- The best 10K race in Spain, which celebrates its 15th edition on 15 January 2023, opens general registrations until the 12,000 bibs available are sold out.
Valencia, 11-04-2022.- The 10K Valencia Ibercaja is getting closer to 5,000 registered participants for its 2023 edition. With nine months to go until the celebration of its 15th edition on 15 January, the best 10K race in Spain, according to the RFEA (Royal Spanish Athletics Federation), has completed its first registration period.
Since the race opened for registration on 1 April with a "Loyalty Promo" aimed exclusively at those registered for the last edition in 2022, nearly 5,000 runners have already signed up for January's running festival.
Asof Monday 11 April, the fastest 10K in the world and the best 10K in Spain, has moved on to the next stage of the registration process, opening it up to the general public. The bibs are now available for any runner in different price brackets, until the 12,000 bibs available for this edition are sold out.
Once these 5,000 bibs have been reached, the race opens directly at the second price bracket (15 euros). This price will be maintained until bib number 8,000 is reached, after which it will be 18 euros. All registrations can be made through the official website of the race.
In addition, this year, the 10K Valencia Ibercaja offers a unique experience by making available to those interested a VIP Registration. This modality, which costs 60 euros and is a novelty in the world of popular races, is still available with a limit of 100 places.
Also, during the registration process, runners can still choose to pay an extra contribution of 3, 5 or 10 euros, which will go entirely to the charity of this edition, Runners for Ethiopia. So far, only 10% of those registered have opted for this contribution.
Non-binary gender as a choice
Among the novelties of this edition, the 10K Valencia Ibercaja offers the option of choosing between three genders during the registration process: female, male and non-binary. So far, 25% of the people registered are women and more than a dozen people have opted for the non-binary option.
From the direction of the race, Álex Aparicio, has pointed out that the objective of including this gender in the registration process is "to try to make absolutely everyone feel as comfortable as possible in our race and from all points of view, also in what refers to gender".
"We try to do it for the world's elite who are looking for records, for the popular runners who want to push their limits, for the cool people who dance at the start with Chimo Bayo, for the girls with the women's tent - which is back this year - for the clubs with the Team Village, for the kids with the 10Kids... why not for those who don't identify with the male or female gender? "And if the best organiser in the world does it, the NYRR (New York Road Runners), why not us," he added.
It should also be noted that all the Autonomous Communities are already represented among the runners coming from outside the Valencian Community, with Madrid and Castilla La Mancha standing out. And so far there are nineteen nationalities present so far in this 15th edition, with the United Kingdom, Italy and France standing out above the rest.
In addition, nearly 12% of runners - the most representative percentage - have stated that their goal on 15 January is Sub 40, which shows that the 10K Valencia Ibercaja is still the runners' favourite race to fly.
