October 4, 2022

- The new race, which will have a differentiated start half an hour before the 10K, will have a fast 5K homologated circuit.

- Registration will open on October 7, with a limit of 1,500 runners, at a promotional price of 8 euros.

Valencia, 4-10-2022.- The 10K Valencia Ibercaja continues to innovate and, in what will be its 15th edition on Sunday, January 15, 2023, the fastest 10K in the world will hold a parallel race to the big event: the 5K Valencia Vamos.

The 5K Valencia Vamos, in the heat of the main event, will have a maximum of 1,500 participants who will start from the Paseo de la Alameda de València at 9:00 am, half an hour before the 10K.

This new Valencia Ciudad del Running race will be included in the National Calendar of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) with international category and will have an approved 5 km circuit.

From the direction of the 10K Valencia Ibercaja, promoter of this initiative, Alex Aparicio said that the aim of organizing this 5K is "to provide the city with a test with a distance that will gradually become a benchmark in road athletics and will be in great demand, both by popular athletes and elite as a springboard to other competitions.

"We are sure - continued Aparicio - that it will be a very attractive event for many runners, who will seek their personal bests in the distance to complete a sports resume with an approved 5K in the best city for running. With the effort of our team, the support of sponsors, the desire of the runners and the virtues of the city of running, we will make the first edition of the 5K Valencia Vamos a success and leave as good a taste in our mouths as we are putting in its organization," concluded Alex Aparicio.

Homologated and very fast circuit

The circuit of the 5K Valencia Vamos, which will be approved by the RFEA, will be essentially the second part of its 'big brother', the 10K. However, with a different start so that all participants can cross the mythical finish line where Rhonex Kipruto stopped the clock in 26'24'' setting the world record in January 2020 and that nearly three years later is still in force.

Specifically, the start will be located in the same Paseo de la Alameda but a few meters before the Puente de las Flores, thus advancing a few meters from the starting arch of the 10K. The test will start crossing the bridge to find the Plaza America and the Paseo de la Ciudadela to link with the last four kilometers of the 10K circuit. The route will run along Pintor López, the Pont de Fusta, the San Pío V Museum, General Elio and the Viveros Gardens on the left, Blasco Ibáñez Avenue, Aragón Avenue and the last few meters back to the Paseo de la Alameda.

The 5-kilometer course, as explained by Álex Aparicio, "avoids the elevation of the so-called Puente del Jamonero and is full of long straights through a beautiful environment. It is true that there are two bridges, but they are completely flat. In addition, the start will be right in front of the Team Village, so the animation is guaranteed".

Registrations available from October 7

Registrations for this new 5K will be available on the official website www.10kvalencia.com starting this Friday, October 7, and will end when the limit of 1,500 runners established for this 1st edition is reached.

The first 750 registrations will have a promotional price of 8 euros, and from 751 registrations onwards will cost 12 euros (RFEA Day License not included). All registrations include a runner's bag and a commemorative race T-shirt.

Ibercaja, the bank of Let's go

This new race is not only born under the umbrella of the 10K, but also under the warmth of Ibercaja, main sponsor since its inception that has not hesitated to join this 5K. In fact, the surname of the "Vamos" alludes to one of the main slogans of Ibercaja that spreads values very close to sport and, in particular, to the races it supports.

For Carmen Pérez, head of Image, Sponsorship and Customer Experience at Ibercaja, supporting this event "allows us to share values intrinsic to Ibercaja such as excellence, professionalism, self-improvement and effort. Our raison d'être is to accompany people in their daily lives, we go with them, of course, helping them in their financial decisions, but we also go with them in other very important moments of their lives, such as sports practice".

"In addition," he continued, "we are demonstrating our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, in this case, by promoting healthy habits through the practice of sports and contributing to the promotion of values in those places where it is present.

It should be noted that the 5K Valencia Vamos has from "the first meter", like its big brother, with the strong institutional support of both the City Council of Valencia, through its Municipal Sports Foundation, and the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, as well as Hyundai Autiber Motor as Official Vehicle, Divina Seguros as Official Insurer, Coca-Cola and Cárnicas Serrano as inseparable traveling companions and Mizuno as sports brand.
