• The race has a kilometre by kilometre timing and various actions aimed at achieving greater female participation
• Parallel tests, Team Village and sustainable actions such as the Changing room at the Fair or the ‘Skateboard Rack’ make this 10K a different and unique test for the runner
Valencia, 27-12-2019.- The 10K Valencia Ibercaja, which already has more than 13,000 people registered for its 12th edition, has everything ready for this January 12th, 2020. In addition to an approved circuit made for flying in Valencia City of Running and a five-wave start to the rhythm of Chimo Bayo’s Hu-Ha!
Regarding the circuit, the first event of the year in Valencia offers participants a kilometre by kilometre timing (one checkpoint per kilometre). A service that very few races have and that makes it possible for the runner to be officially measured at each kilometre point of the route, from 1 to 10, as well as having warnings every 100 metres from the last kilometre to the finish line.
As for the classifications and trophies, in addition to the traditional Absolute, M40, M50 and M60, the 10K Valencia Ibercaja awards a trophy to the three most numerous teams and the three fastest teams (the 10 best times of each team are calculated), as well as special prizes for the minimalist runners (first 3 men and first 3 women) and the runners who work in the Media (first 3 men and first 3 women).
Also, in this edition, the race continues to organize a Team Village, a private space dedicated to the most numerous participating teams, located next to the start and finish line in the Paseo de la Alameda. In addition to running, the teams meet before and after in these tents to enjoy the morning with their colleagues without missing the photos nor lunch.
In its goal #LaMitadMásUna the race has again organised two free Training Groups led by coaches Raquel Landin and Marta Fernandez de Castro. This year, 49% of those who signed up for these groups were women. In fact, in the Initiation Group, the objective of 51% was achieved, which the race wants to extrapolate to the 10K. The coaches have also been accompanied by two more coaches for the groups of children training for the 10Kids.
Continuing with the actions of #LaMitadMásUna this 2020 the Coca-Cola Award is added to the team with the most women finishers and the traditional women’s tent, a private changing room so that all the runners have an easier time changing clothes before and after the event.
Sustainability as an objective
From the 10K Valencia Ibercaja also seeks to improve in the field of sustainability by offering free services to make it easier to move without a car on the day of the race. Thus, the competition again set up a Bike Park, and what’s more a scooter one was added this year.
Moreover, thanks to the support of Coca-Cola, those interested will be able to leave their backpacks at the Feria del Corredor (Runners Fair) when they pick up their bibs so that on Sunday the organisation can take them to the finish line and they can get there on foot or while warming up. All those who use this free service will also receive a gift from Coca-Cola. The Feria del Corredor will be located in the El Saler Shopping Center (ground floor) on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th January, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm (uninterrupted schedule).
In addition to the already large bag of this year’s runner for all those registered, there will be a few more gifts for all those who have donated the 3 euros to this year’s solidarity organization, the Pedro Cavadas Foundation, when it comes time to formalise their registration.
At the Runner’s Fair, registered participants can request a change of starting box (with a cost of €1 ), accrediting the mark in the corresponding case, request a change of club (€1 ) and even if someone cannot run, they can request a complete change of registration data (€3 ) so that no one runs with someone else’s bib, since the race, like the other big events in the city, strictly abides by the anti-cheating rules.
Parallel races for everyone
In an effort to make the weekend a party, the 10K is once again organising a gathering in the form of a Breakfast Run on the Saturday before the race. Finally, on the same Sunday, January 12th, after the 10K, the Mile and the Kids Mile will take place, as well as the 10Kids Hyundai Autiber Motor, which includes a medal and a T-shirt for the participants (from 0 to 12 years old).
