The athletes of the 10K Valencia Ibercaja by Kiprun are already prepared to fly through the fastest circuit in the world in the distance. Everything indicates that this Sunday, January 12, the 10K Valencia will once again offer a great show in what will be its 17th largest edition with 15,000 popular runners registered.
The race, which holds the double world record (male and female), became in its last edition the fastest 10K ever held in history with data that corroborate it. The average of the 10 best times in men was 27:15, and in women 29:51, with a total average of 28:33 (data from Carlos Fernández Canet).
With these hard-to-beat figures, the 2025 race will feature a line-up of elite athletes of up to 25 different nationalities, who come to the first race of the year eager to beat their personal bests.
The Swiss Dominic Lobalu, with a time of 27:09, achieved the European record in 2024 and arrives in Valencia this January 12 "with the desire to achieve it again. I can't promise anything, but I'm in great shape and I'm on the right track to do it. I'm really looking forward to racing in Valencia again".
The Ethiopian athlete Foyten Tesfay, with a time of 29:54 and being the favorite to win this Sunday after running a few weeks ago the Valencia Marathon where she finished third (1:03:21), faces the first race of the year "with a lot of desire to try to go under 29 minutes, if the day comes".
The Swedish athlete Andreas Almgren, with a track record of 26:52.57, said during the presentation that his goal is "to go under 27 minutes, although there is a lot of competition because it is a race with great athletes where you run very fast. I'm really looking forward to the start".
Abbie Donnelly, the British athlete with a time of 31:42, arrives in Valencia with the goal of improving her personal best. "I know the course, I've heard a lot about it and I know it's very fast. I have options.
