  • In order to ensure the comfort and safety of the participants, the race will reinforce the access controls to the boxes with a team of between 90 and 110 people.
  • Runners who start before their corresponding start time will be disqualified. The 5K Valencia Vamos will start earlier at 08:30 am.
  • The registration process for both distances will open on April 3.

Valencia, March 27, 2023.- The 10K Valencia Ibercaja will have in its 2024 edition with up to 13 different starts and will recover the two roads of the Paseo de la Alameda. This is the main headline of the meeting held this morning between the management of the race and representatives of the main Valencian running clubs and teams.

During this meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, the best 10K in Spain, according to the RFEA, and the fastest in the world, has announced some important developments, especially regarding the dynamics of the starts for its new edition in 2024.

With the aim of ensuring the comfort and safety of the more than 10,000 runners expected on January 14, 2024 in Valencia Ciudad del Running, the Organization started to work right after the 2023 edition and more than 10 months before its celebration, the most relevant aspects have already been decided and on which special emphasis has been placed after the eventful start that took place this past January.

The race recovers the two roads of the Alameda and will have 13 exits.

One of the main novelties of this 16th edition is that the race recovers the two lanes of the Paseo de la Alameda at the start. Thus, runners will have twice as much space, up to eight lanes. These two lanes will be operational up to and including the 8th start, of the 13 that there will be in total.

From the 9th starting gun, runners will start on the road closest to the Turia riverbed, as the road closest to the Alameda buildings will be used for the finish line and the fastest 10K participants will start arriving at the 9th and 10th start.

So the race will organize up to a total of 13 starts from 09:30 hours. A first start will be for elite and sub elite athletes, and from then on the participants will take their start every few minutes and will be ordered according to the expected or accredited mark during the registration process, from SUB 31 to SUP 60 minutes.

In fact, the first eight starts will have between 250 and 800 runners, approximately, as maximum. "A meticulous and very controlled starts, as if they were different races even and with the consideration of official time for the judges of the RFEA," said Alex Aparicio, director of the 10K Valencia Ibercaja.

A control system of more than 100 people

Another of the issues discussed at the meeting was the reinforcement of access controls to the starting blocks. In this regard, Paco Lopez, Security Coordinator and Head of Departures of the 10K, has detailed that the new actions implemented by the race have reinforced the device for the exits.

In fact, a team of between 90 and 110 people is being trained to work exclusively on the access controls to the exit boxes and the "human cordons" between them.

Likewise, from the Organization of the 10K has been advanced that also reinforces the control of accreditation of the marks that runners indicate in the registration process and have taken appropriate measures to disqualify any runner who takes a start before the one that corresponds to him.

The 5K Valencia Vamos is brought forward to 08:30 a.m.

The 10K Valencia Ibercaja will once again have its parallel 5K race, which this 2023 debuted with a 1st edition in which 1116 runners participated. Thus, the 5K Valencia Vamos will celebrate its 2nd edition on Sunday, January 14, 2024 with the same approved course of 5000 meters starting from the Puente de las Flores.

As in its 1st edition, runners will also cross the same finish line as the 10K participants. The novelty is that next year, the race will bring forward the starting time by half an hour to 08:30 hours. This is another of the measures taken by the Organization to make it possible for the runners of the main event to start on both sides of the Alameda.
