- The event raises 3426 euros thanks to the contribution of the participants of the 10K, 5K and 10Kids of this 2023 edition.
València (02-02-23) The 10K Valencia Ibercaja has delivered the solidarity collection that runners have donated to Runners for Ethiopia, a project that brings together a group of runners, coaches, triathletes and physiotherapists who travel every year to the African country to help young local athletes without resources.
Specifically, the total amount raised was 3,426 euros, all of which was donated to Runners for Ethiopia, the solidarity organization of the 10K Valencia Ibercaja 2023.
From the project, some of the committed travelers since its inception in 2015 such as Tomás Plá, Gemma Hernández and Manu Zafra, have been in charge of receiving the check. From Runners for Ethiopia, they have thanked all the runners for their solidarity and have advanced that the proceeds will be invested in making their next expedition, scheduled for the month of June, as successful as possible for young African athletes.
The ceremony for the presentation of this solidarity check took place at the Quirónsalud Mercado de Colón medical center in Valencia. Quirónsalud has joined this year as Healthcare Partner to the 10K Valencia Ibercaja, being its new medical center the chosen venue for this meeting and Joaquín Montenegro, manager of this center and the Quirónsalud Hospital in Valencia, the host of the event.
In addition to Alex Aparicio, director of the 10K Valencia Ibercaja, José Manuel Brotons, representing the Municipal Sports Foundation, José Gil, provincial director of Valencia Ibercaja, main sponsor of the race, and Juan Miguel Gómez, director of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, among other collaborators and sponsors such as Hyundai Autiber Motor, Official Vehicle.
The collection of 3426 euros has been achieved thanks to the voluntary contribution that this year's participants have made during the registration process, both the 10K and the 5K Valencia Vamos, as well as the young runners of the 10Kids Valencia, since the subscription of each bib of the children's races (1 euro) was also 100% in solidarity with Runners for Ethiopia.
